{"id":761,"date":"2025-03-08T23:32:06","date_gmt":"2025-03-09T00:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thenewamore.com\/?p=761"},"modified":"2025-03-14T14:29:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T14:29:40","slug":"dhs-using-polygraph-tests-to-find-leakers-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thenewamore.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/08\/dhs-using-polygraph-tests-to-find-leakers-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"DHS using polygraph tests to find leakers: Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is using polygraph tests to figure out who could be leaking information to news outlets, with some agency officials contending the disclosed information has hampered immigration enforcement efforts, multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bgov.com\/bloomberg-government-news\/noem-directs-polygraph-use-to-target-homeland-security-leaks\">outlets reported<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DHS Secretary Kristi Noem ordered in an internal directive, first reported by Bloomberg Government last month, that every polygraph exam done by the department has to feature questions about unapproved communication with nonprofit groups and media outlets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Homeland Security is a national security agency,\u201d DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in an emailed statement to The Hill. \u201cWe can, should, and will polygraph personnel.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the DHS, has previously utilized the so-called \u201clie detector&#8221; tests on new hires at the agency.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both Noem and President Trump\u2019s Border czar, Tom Homan, have pinned the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5132732-tom-homan-immigration-raids-hindered-leaks-colorado\/\">blame<\/a> for immigration enforcement raids being revealed ahead of time and the substandard U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) numbers of arrests on internal leakers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir job is dangerous enough. So we are going to address this very seriously,\u201d Homan told reporters in early February.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Noem <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5183306-dhs-noem-raid-leakers\/\">said<\/a> in a video posted Friday on X that the DHS has identified&nbsp; two \u201ccriminal leakers\u201d within the department and that they will be referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for \u201cfelony prosecutions.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese individuals face up to 10 years in federal prison,\u201d Noem said. \u201cWe will find and root out all leakers. They will face prison time &amp; we will get justice for the American people.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear how many DHS workers have been polygraphed so far.
